Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said India has extensive food safety laws, but enforcement and compliance lag behind, especially with new business models like e-commerce, dark stores and cloud kitchens. Speaking in Gandhinagar at Karnavati University, he urged technology-driven, continuous enforcement, year-round festival-specific measures, and coordinated regulation to protect public health, noting licenses suspensions, seizures, and ongoing legal actions in Maharashtra.
