Thousands of devotees gathered at Kathmandu's Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square as Taleju Bhawani temple opened for its annual one-day worship on Maha Navami. The goddess, principal deity of the Newa people, was honored with ritual processions, traditional music, and animal sacrifices at Mulchowk and surrounding shrines, continuing rituals until Bijaya Dashami in the Dashain festival.
