Muslim thinkers often critique Western materialism and imperialism but rely on reactive, Islam-centered readings instead of engaging Western sources directly. To address modern challenges, migration, Islamophobia, democracy, and gender debates, madrasas and Islamic universities should teach Western history, philosophy, and political theory from primary texts. Genuine comprehension of Western ideas and institutions, not polemics, is essential for strategic engagement and informed reform.
