Bangladesh has committed to creating 25,000 midwifery posts as part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare and maternal and newborn care. The announcement came at a UN event in New York, where Bangladesh, Sweden and UNFPA discussed expanding access to trained midwives. The initiative aims to improve care for women and newborns while strengthening the country’s healthcare workforce through greater investment in midwifery.
