Baby Elephant’s Teesta Rescue Wins Praise on Twitter

A four day old elephant calf was swept nearly four kilometres downstream in West Bengal’s Teesta River after becoming separated from its mother while an elephant herd attempted to cross the river. Local fishermen spotted the drowning calf and, with forest officials, rescued it using a small boat. After a veterinary check, the calf was safely reunited with its mother, who accepted it back.
