Apple has launched Apple Pay in India with Axis Bank, allowing Axis-issued Visa and Mastercard holders to add cards to Apple Wallet and pay at thousands of in-store and online merchants via NFC on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The company expects more banks to join by year-end, has partnered with major PSPs, and highlighted privacy and security while acknowledging competition from UPI and digital-wallet players.
