Filmmaker Karan Johar marked Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's 10th anniversary by revisiting its themes of unrequited love, heartbreak and vulnerability. He described the film as a personal story influenced by his own experiences, acknowledged polarized responses, especially to the third act, and said he would still tell it the same way, accepting its flaws while thanking the cast and crew.
