Each Dussehra, Jeypore revives its royal and tribal heritage as villages bring sacred bamboo lathis to the town for worship. Once central to royal processions honoring Maa Kanka Durga, the ritual links communities and recalls historic ceremonies. Over 60 tribal groups are expected to participate this year, continuing a practice revived in 2006 despite the zamindari abolition.
