300 Km To 180: Kashmir’s Long Road Could Get A Major Shortcut

A proposed Katra-Kulgam corridor could significantly shorten the road distance between Jammu and Srinagar to around 180–190 km, compared with the earlier distance of about 300 km. The ₹20,000-crore project has received approval to move ahead, with the Detailed Project Report now being prepared. The route will include tunnels and viaducts and is planned to bypass the landslide-prone Ramban stretch.
