Forest officials detained nine people and seized a cargo vessel carrying 230 tonnes of coal from the Bhola River in the eastern Sundarbans, alleging illegal transport and smuggling. The Hasan Bhandari sailed from Joymoni, Mongla to Patharghata; detainees lacked valid purchase documents. Two cases were filed at Sarankhola Police Station and the coal is valued at Tk50 lakh.
