Lionel Messi will receive the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, often called Spain's Nobel Prize, becoming the first individual footballer honoured. The award recognises his exceptional career: 47 team trophies, Argentina's 2022 World Cup, four Champions Leagues, ten La Liga titles, eight Ballons d'Or and 936 official goals, and his long association with Spain since joining La Masia.
