Aamir Khan confirmed that a direct sequel to 3 Idiots is in active development, with Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi writing the screenplay. Hirani will narrate the final script to Khan after returning to Mumbai in weeks. The film follows the original characters about a decade later, keeping the same warmth and social satire while reuniting the core cast.
